One of the foremost international personalities in the revival of Italian early music, Pino De Vittorio started as an artist dedicated to the vocal tradition of his native region Puglia, and later joined Roberto De Simone's theatre company.
His career led him across the biggest international opera houses. After the debut at the San Carlo Theatre in Naples with Crispino e la Comare by the Ricci brothers, the production was later revived at La Fenice in Venice and the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris. He founded the baroque ensemble Cappella della Pieta' dei Turchini with Antonio Florio, with whom he has performed in numerous concerts in international festivals in France, Japan, China, Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Israel, Spain and elsewhere.
He also performs several baroque operas with Antonio Florio: La Colomba Ferita (San Carlo, Teatro Massimo de Palermo), La Finta Cameriera, Pulcinella Vendicato (Teatro Bellini de Naples et de Mexico), Partenope by Leonardo Vinci (Seville, San Carlo de Naples, León, Santander, La Coruña), Ottavia by Domenico Scarlatti (San Sebastián) etc.
In the opera repertoire, he performed the role of the nurse in The Coronation of Poppea with Rinaldo Alessandrini and Bob Wilson, at the Opéra Garnier and La Scala in Milan.
His extensive discography includes numerous recordings of sacred and secular music with the Cappella dei Turchini for Symphonia, Opus 111, Naïve, Eloquentia and Glossa. His most recent recordings with Franco Pavan and the Laboratorio 600 are Siciliane (Glossa), and on the same label, a CD of Calabrian music and Ninnananna. He has also released a CD about the villanelles of Gorzanis (La Barca del mio Amore) with the Lyra ensemble directed by Bor Zuljan.
